Comments from Carbon Literacy participants, Summer 2025:
  • I've learnt so much more than I thought I would, and it's opened conversations at work and with friends.
  • I'm definitely more confident talking to people about the changes they can make for the better - even my mother-in-law!
  • A big thank you! This course really helped to consolidate my existing knowledge.
  • I now understand how, what I had previously thought were just pointless buzzwords, are actually the solutions.
  • This course has helped me more than I thought it would - much more than just something to add to my CV.
  • I can better understand the news headlines and see common themes linked to ongoing climate change and why we have got to do something about it.
  • Helps with actions over talk.
  • I now feel empowered to campaign for the Climate and Nature Bill with policy makers.
  • I loved meeting this way on Zoom and sharing information. This feels like a starting point, with things to work on and learn more. Brilliant - thank you.
  • Good to be refreshed on knowledge, and to realise there is lots you collectively can do
  • I'm now thinking about things in a new light, looking at the subject from a different angle - it's good to see there are positive actions we can take.
Comments from Participants in Autumn 2025

Our Carbon Literacy course has been developed over the past 5 years, alongside hundreds of conversations with environmental groups, local councils, and visitors to our Nature & Climate Stall, and to GreenFest 2025.

Since the course was accredited by the Carbon Literacy Project in June 2025, all 31 participants said they were more confident making sense of conflicting information, and having well-informed conversations. So far, everyone has been successfully certified as Carbon Literate.

The course is currently delivered by WBGE member, scientist and tutor, Dr Pat Watson. Pat has written an article (click on the green button below) about the practical issues she addressed, and also the unexpected benefits to her family, of halving her carbon footprint.

Pat also talks to local groups about reducing our impact on nature and climate. Please email [email protected] for more information. Recent talks include at Shalbourne Gardening Club, Thatcham Town Council, and the Newbury Branch of the United Nations Association.
